Why Is Social Media Important For Your Business?

Updated: Jan 25, 2022

These days it almost seems a prerequisite for a company to have a variety of social media accounts, but how many of us can say with full confidence that these social media channels are being fully utilised?

Social media isn’t all about sharing funny cat videos or posting memes. For a company, paying some attention to social media can contribute to the following:

- Increase brand awareness

- Create a brand personality

- Drive traffic to your website

- Drive enquiries and ultimately sales

But what are the key factors to consider when setting up a social media account?

- Post engaging images- pictures are a great way to demonstrate your service/product and to build trust. If you create cakes, we want to see those cakes! If you’re a plumber, we want to see your latest work!

- Don’t just go all “Wolf of Wall Street”, break up any sales patter with interesting facts, industry news or just a quick status update to say, “hello I’m still here!”

- Interact with your audience; comment, reply, engage with your online community and be proactive. Don’t just wait for your audience to engage with you, be proactive!

Social media can certainly be used as an effective sales tool and when used correctly, can also be used to increase brand awareness. You are building trust and everyone wants to go with a company that they trust!

I Aint Got Time For That!

Understandably not everyone has the time to invest in social media, but don’t fear there are plenty of scheduling websites that mean you can schedule your posts months in advance.

We particularly like Hootsuite, which allows you to schedule across all your social media accounts including Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. If you are able to dedicate a small amount of time to scheduling, your content can be automatically without you being glued to your computer constantly. We’d still recommend you have the Twitter and Facebook apps on your phone and this way you will be able to keep an eye on any engagement and be reactive to any replies, comments etc. from the public.

What Are You Waiting For?

There are many aspects to consider when setting up social media but the benefits to having a social presence to promote your business certainly outweighs any potential bad press. Our best advice is take the leap! Give it a go, open that fantastic opportunity and get your brand out there!

Drive Customers To Your Website

Your website acts as a front door to the rest of the world. Your website is pivotal in not only driving sales, increasing enquiries but also driving brand awareness. Your website advertises your business all times of the day, whether a potential customer is an early morning searcher or a night owl browser, the storefront to your website is always open. But what happens if no-one knows you’re there?

5 billion searches are performed every day so with that in mind the potential to be seen is endless, but that said, what if traffic to your website and essentially enquiries are still low?

There are many ways to drive traffic to your website and here are some handy hints to get you started.

There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about!

In the famous words of Oscar Wilde, you want everyone talking about your business. Social media will give your brand even more exposure to your desired audience and potential new customers. It provides you with the opportunity to engage and build relationships with the public through regular posts and interactions.

This can be a double-edged sword to use with caution, allowing anyone the opportunity to review and post comments on your business unfortunately aren’t always going to be positive. Have you considered how you are going to deal with this issue if it arises? Will you respond sporadically or create a contingency plan to deal with any online disputes?

A Mobile Revolution!

More people than ever are searching for businesses via their phones and tablets but to keep a customer on your website, it is prerequisite for your website to be mobile-friendly.

If your website is mobile friendly it will enhance the users’ experience, they will stay on the website longer and the potential to convert your visitor into a new customer is increased. Not only this but the longer they are on your website, your traffic improves so your organic rankings do too.

You can use this handy tool to check if your website is mobile friendly right here: https://search.google.com/test/mobile-friendly

The power of PPC!

Ever seen those bold ads right at the top of your search enticing you to click; this is PPC.

PPC is a type of advertising that you only pay for every time someone clicks on the advert and can drive traffic to your site by using specific targeted keywords. This type of advertising means your business can be displayed right in front of the type of customers you want.

You decide how much you want to spend and only pay when someone clicks on your advert. Your advert will be displayed across computers, mobiles and tablets so plenty of opportunity to really get your brand out there. There are also a number of ways in which you can tailor your advert to make sure that someone clicks on your business and not your competitor.

This is just a snapshot of some of the ways in which you can drive more traffic to your site. However, we have just scratched the surface! There is a wealth of opportunity to consider, talk to us about how we can help and get in touch today
