Get More From Your Website

Updated: Jan 25, 2022

Almost every company today has a website but very few can admit they regularly update their website.

Keeping your website up to date not only makes your website look current but it also is a factor that can improve your rankings. Keeping a website up to date signals to Google that your website is current and therefore is likely to rank it higher via search engines. The higher your website ranks on Google, the more likely you are to get enquiries, which in most cases is the main reason for having a website!

Your website needs to showcase your company, the product or services but how can you make your website work harder for you?

Check Your Website Speed

One of the first things to check is if your website loads efficiently? If your website doesn’t load quickly it will discourage users when they land on your website and also affect your rankings. Google doesn't favour websites that are slow to load and will impact your rankings adversely.

One option is to consider implementing AMP (accelerated mobile pages) to ensure your website loads quickly on mobiles. Google currently favours AMP pages.

Review Your Home Page

If visitors to your website don’t click on any other page, would they still get an overview of what your company does? Your homepage needs to give users an overall picture of what you do and make it interesting. Include descriptions, images, meet the team, even office location. Most importantly there should be clear calls to action to encourage users to get in touch.

Update Images On The Website

Are the images on your website looking dated? Do they relate to the content? Users need to land on your website and know exactly what you do from images alone, so make sure these reinstate your messages and overall brand identity.

Make Sure Your Website Is Mobile Friendly

This may sound like an obvious one but you’d be surprised at the number of websites that aren’t mobile friendly. Almost half of website traffic is made up by views on mobile so why miss this opportunity? If users can’t navigate easily on your website, they will leave.

Start Blogging

This is one of the easiest ways to keep your website up to date and current. Blogging is also a great way to reinstate to visitors your brand identity.

It can sometimes be a challenge to think of things to blog about, but keep an eye on trending topics, industry relevant news and offer opinions or suggestions.

Review Google Analytics Data

Google Analytics is the golden ticket to finding out exactly how you can get more from your website.

You can see which are your most viewed pages, which pages have a high bounce rate so aren’t engaging and even see a breakdown of the demographics of your visitors. By viewing this kind of data you can build a full picture of the type of audience that is engaging with your website.

Google analytics is a fantastic tool to show what is working well on your website, and what areas need some improvement.

Never stop!

Quite simply put, you can’t be passive when it comes to your website. For your website to do more for your business and to drive enquiries, it is a constant work in progress. You need to regularly update and add fresh new content to your website.
